Budapest Marriott Hotel, Matthias Church and Fisherman’s Bastion

Ramona and Colbert’s destination wedding unfolded on both sides of the Danube. Their day brought together preparations overlooking the river, two ceremonies in the Castle District and an evening at the Budapest Marriott Hotel, followed by filming along the illuminated waterfront.

I documented their celebration through the changing settings and atmosphere of the day, with Budapest becoming a recurring presence in their wedding film.

From the Marriott to the Castle District

The day began in a suite at the Budapest Marriott Hotel. Its spacious terrace looked across the Danube towards Buda Castle, placing the city within the bridal preparations from the very beginning. Inside, sunlight filled the room as friends shared champagne and the excitement of getting ready.

A white limousine carried the couple and their guests through Budapest to the ceremonies. Champagne, conversation and laughter continued along the way, making the journey another part of the celebration.

Two Ceremonies Above the City

The church ceremony took place at Matthias Church. Within its historic surroundings, Ramona and Colbert exchanged vows in the company of their family and friends.

The civil ceremony followed at Fisherman’s Bastion, where the panoramic views opened the celebration out towards the city. Moving from the church to this setting gave the two ceremonies distinct atmospheres, while keeping them close together in Budapest’s Castle District.

The décor by The White Project, under Jelena Budai’s guidance, brought a considered elegance to the occasion. Alongside the architecture and the views, these details helped give the ceremony its character.

Dinner and Speeches at the Marriott

Back at the Marriott, guests gathered in the ballroom for dinner. Family and friends shared speeches and toasts, adding their own voices and memories to the celebration.

After the journeys and ceremonies, the evening brought everyone together around the tables. The formal setting held a warm, personal atmosphere as the people closest to Ramona and Colbert spoke about the couple and their life together.

Filming Beside the Danube After Dark

After dinner, we stepped out onto the Danube promenade for a creative film session. The city lights and illuminated Buda Castle gave these sequences a different visual character from the daytime footage, while bringing the river back into their story.

The party continued with live Hungarian Romani music and a DJ, carrying the celebration onto the dance floor.

From the terrace at the Marriott to the waterfront after dark, the Danube connected several parts of their day. The ceremonies, speeches and evening celebration provided the personal moments around which I shaped their Wedding Highlight Film.
